I'd been following that movie since it debuted at Sundance last year. No sign of any release here in Australia though.
I'd heard nothing but good reviews.

I've seen Primer and it's a pretty great film.
The acting and direction (and cinematography) are impressive for such a low budget project.
Dialog wise, some of it went over my head, but it's so well written that I believed it was true and necessary to the story.
The plotting gets a bit muddy towards the end, but Primer is a great example of an original, sci-fi movie...

Yeah i'd heard that about the dialogue myself, that it was really over everyones head.
Apparently this was because they didn't want to talk dialogue which was only for the purpose of informing the audience. And instead, to talk as if they already knew what each other meant with stuff, which is an interesting take, i thought.
When the film was submitted to Sundance they phoned him to check if even he knew the story heh [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

Are we going to have another round of people belittling the firmmaker's accomplishment by claiming that some studion spent $1,000,000 on post production and promotion?
Is this the same guy who edited with Final cut pro and was the subject of another thread some months back?
I saw it on DVD. It was interesting enough . . . I might have spent a few more bucks on production -- the storage unit scenes look really budget rate -- but who am I to argue? They got a movie picked up by a distributor.
I'm not sure why they did 16mm. The film says VIDEO all over it -- It looks just fine though.
Still, only 7K? Very impressive.

Hey there.
Of course he had a friend who gave him over 20 grand to pay for a 35mm blow up. Wihtout that it couldnt have played at Sundance.
Also. I was just hearing from a guy who works at Disney.. How about this for a sign of how things are changing..
They just recieved the final "Print" for Sin City Premiere...
It came as a digital file and was stored on a Maxtor 160GB external hard drive.
A word of advice. If you want to watch that movie in the UK make sure you see it at a digital cinema... Because Disney aint paying for new prints. We're getting US prints that have played 100's of times already.
